Inter Miami And Lionel Messi Add LAFC To Their List Of Victories

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami march forward after registering another Major League Soccer win as they finally move from the bottom spot.

While Los Angeles FC may be accustomed to playing in front of a large celebrity audience at the BMO Stadium, there was also a large turnout to watch Lionel Messi and Inter Miami this time round and the visitors were the ones who stole the show with a 3-1 victory.

Messi provided assists for Jordi Alba and Leonardo Campana’s goals in the second half as Inter Miami defeated the defending MLS champions 3-1 after Facundo Farias opened the scoring in the 14th minute for the visitors.

Throughout the first 45 minutes of play, Denis Bouanga was stopped numerous times in front of the goal, occasionally by Inter Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender and other times by his poor finishing.

LAFC seemed to have done everything but score. Farias’ opening goal was against the run of play and Steven Cherundolo must have known their opportunity was about to present itself at half-time.

However, Inter Miami continued to exert influence after the break. They again benefited when Messi provided Alba with a spectacular pass to increase the lead.

Then, as Inter Miami sealed the deal with Campana’s 83rd-minute goal, Messi provided the assist for the third and final goal.

Inter Miami received a huge boost from the three points at the bottom of the Eastern Conference as they move to 25 points for the season. They remain in 14th place, but are now only eight points away from the Play-Off picture.

Seattle Sounders pass LAFC to move up to third place in the Western Conference but LAFC still have games remaining.
