Who Are The Favourites To Win UEFA EURO 2024?

The 2024 UEFA European Championships take place at the end of this season being hosted by Germany for the second time.

It is approaching the halfway mark in qualification as matchday five gets underway so who are the favourites to lift the prestigious trophy?

According to bet365, there are joint-favourites for the trophy and it looks like being good news for those hoping that “it’s coming home”.

England are one of the joint-favourites and rightly so. Currently, they have a 100%-win record in qualification, boasting wins over Italy and Ukraine.

Backed by their record top goal scorer and new Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, England possess a range of world-class talent including Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden.

England fell agonizingly short in the last EUROs, losing on penalties against Italy in the final. The Three Lions also managed to reach the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup.

It is rumoured that Gareth Southgate will walk away after this tournament and with Kane, Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker reaching their 30s, it could prove the last chance for a lot of players to win with England.

France will always be considered near-favourites and are the other joint-favourites currently.

They are the second and only other team to have a 100%-win record in qualification so far, including a 4-0 win over the Netherlands and also have one of the best players in the world in Kylian Mbappe.

They won the 2018 World Cup and also lost a penalty shootout in the final of the 2022 World Cup when Lionel Messi finally earned his crowning moment.

In the knockout stages, France will be a handful for anyone to deal with and their status as one of the best teams in the world cannot be understated.

The hosts of the tournament would have to be considered one of the teams who could make it all the way, despite their recent poor form in tournaments.

Since winning the 2014 World Cup, they failed to get out of the group stage at the 2018 and 2022 showings and also bowed out in the last 16 in Euro 2020 against England.

However, Germany is a supremely talented squad with the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Ilkay Gundogan and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who will prove that Germany on their day can demolish whoever is in their way.

Germany are three-time EURO champions and four-time World Cup champions, and on home turf, don’t rule out the Germans making it a fourth win in the European Championships.

15 years ago, Spain took the crown at EURO 2008 and would win the 2010 World Cup and EURO 2012 for good measure.

Now, they sit fourth in their qualification group, behind Scotland, Georgia and Norway, and after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Scotland, this has left Spain with more questions than answers.

However, they made the semi-final at EURO 2020 and have a range of talent coming through the ranks.

Spain are one of the best sides, but can they keep up with the elite?

Personally, Spain will be a dark horse in this competition.

Who can rule out the current European Champions?

Italy will look to avenge their missed World Cup campaign by winning the EUROs again.

Despite Italy failing to reach the last two World Cups, they beat England on penalties in the last edition of the tournament and have some of the best talent in the world.

Qualification so far has not been easy as they sit third behind England and Ukraine in their group, albeit with a game in hand on Ukraine, and will need to find the extra gear to get a grip and move up the rankings.

Captain Ciro Immobile will hope to inspire an Italy side who can shock the best teams in the world on their day.

Those are five of the favourites for the EURO 2024 crown come July with Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands also harbouring hopes of winning.
