Leicester City placed under transfer embargo by EFL
Sky Bet Championship promotion favourites Leicester City have today, Friday, 22 March, been placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL.
The move comes following the news that the East Midlands side have been charged with breaching the Premier League’s financial rules under Financial Fair Play (FFP)
The club have confirmed that they will be launching legal proceedings against both the Premier League and the EFL in response to these charges.
A statement from the club reads:
“We reaffirm the Club’s position that we will continue to fight for the right of Leicester City and all clubs to pursue their ambitions, particularly where these have been reasonably and fairly established through sustained sporting achievement.”
