Shane Duffy arrested and charged with drink-driving after two-vehicle crash

Norwich City defender Shane Duffy has been charged with drink-driving after a two-vehicle collision in Hethersett, Norfolk, late on Monday night.

The 32-year-old Irish defender is due to appear in front of Magistrates in July.

Mr Duffy was nearly three times over the legal limit for alcohol per 100ml of breath, blowing 102mcg when questioned by police.

With the Canaries gearing up for a tough two-legged semi-final clash in the playoffs against Leeds United, who are currently managed by former Norwich boss Daniel Farke, the focus within the changing room needs to switch back to the upcoming challenge.

A Norwich City spokesperson said the club are: “aware of an incident involving one of its first-team players.

“The club is in the process of considering the matter internally in accordance with its own disciplinary procedure.”

It is currently unknown whether Duffy will be removed from the upcoming matchday squad for Leeds United, but if that were the case, it would represent a big loss in David Wagner’s (Norwich City Head Coach) squad, with Duffy being one of the main players in the squad, after joining the club on a free transfer in the 2023 summer transfer window, after his deal with Fulham expired.
