Cristian Romero Pledges His Future To Tottenham

Following Antonio Conte’s departure, Cristian Romero has shed some insight on how he was feeling during the Italian’s reign and what he plans to do long term.

In a recent interview, the World Cup winner admitted that the relationship between Conte and the players had broken down, which led to the defender getting offers from multiple other clubs. He also slammed all suggestions that he picks his nation over his club.

Since Ange Postecoglou took charge, the Argentinian is impressed by what he has seen from the Australian in the early stages.

He’s also admitted that after his World Cup triumph, the aura around Conte and his camp changed. It was no coincidence that results took a tumble in the New Year.

Spurs’ chances of silverware quickly became impossible once again as exits out of all cup competitions and chances at top four faded away which saw Conte depart by March.

“After winning the World Cup, I came back to Spurs and the group seemed separated from the manager, I feel responsible for the poor season we had,” Romero said.

“I’m not happy how the season ended, I’m preparing to repay all the trust the club has put in me”.

“The new manager has brought us hope, the group is looking great right now”.

“I want to have my best years here, I said no to every offer that came in for me, I really like Tottenham [Hotspur] and the Premier League, I want to be here”.
