Boca Make It Through To The Copa Libertadores Semi-Finals In Dramatic Fashion

Boca Juniors has managed to secure a spot in the Copa Libertadores semi-finals after defeating Racing Club via a penalty shootout.

Xeneize will now once again battle for a place in the most prestigious final in South American football.

The team led by Jorge Almirón is just three games away from eternal glory and their next opponent is one of the most feared in the tournament.

It is worth noting that Boca Juniors have not won the Copa Libertadores since 2007, and if they clinch the title, they will tie with Independiente de Avellaneda for the most championships. So, who is Boca playing against in the Copa Libertadores semi-finals?

Boca Juniors’ Copa Libertadores Semi-Final Opponents

In this context, it should be mentioned that Boca’s next opponent in the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores is none other than Brazil’s Palmeiras, a club that has won the tournament in 2020 and 2021 and also reached the semi-finals in 2022.

However, despite the Brazilian team being the favourites, Xeneize has a strong track record against them in their recent match-ups.

Boca has eliminated Palmeiras in their last three knockout clashes. With that said, the blue and yellow team defeated Palmeiras in the semi-finals in 2001 and 2018 and they also triumphed in the memorable final in the year 2000 as visitors.

When Will Boca Play Their Copa Libertadores Semi-Final?

Boca will be playing in the Copa Libertadores semi-final on September 28th at La Bombonera at 9:30 PM local time in Argentina for the first leg. The second leg will take place in Brazil on October 5th with a chance to secure a spot in the grand final scheduled for November 4th at the Maracanã Stadium.
