Who Is New FC Barcelona Signing Noah Darvich?

FC Barcelona acquire highly sought after attacking midfielder from Germany, Noah Darvich, for a reported €3m to beat the likes of PSG, Manchester City and Bayern Munich for the 16-year-old’s signature.

Who Is He?

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Noah started off playing for Sportfreunde Eintracht Freiburg at the age of 10, followed by a move to SC Freiburg’s Academy in 2017. Showing promise he quickly moves to the U17 side at the age of 14 in 2021 and in July of this year joins Freiburg’s B team. He now prepares for life in Barcelona as the youngster dubbed as a “top talent” by transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano, pens a three year deal until 2026.

Playing Style?

Noah Darvich usually plays as a number 10 but can also play the left wing position. He has excellent balance, ball control, dribbling and passing ability. Not scared to pass/dribble on his weaker right foot either and at 6 feet, he is a tall attacking midfielder but moves sharply and with good pace on the ball. He is a creative and composed player who likes to create opportunities for others. In the recent U17 UEFA European Championships in Hungary, he helped captain his country to the title playing every game while scoring 2 goals and picking up 4 assists.

His outstanding performance throughout the competition earned him a place in the team of the tournament alongside now fellow team-mate, Lamine Yamal.

Where he be a good fit at FC Barcelona?

The German talent will fit perfectly into Barca head coach Rafael Márquez’s side, as they incorporate a play style which is to retain possession and play with the ball to feet – something which Noah enjoys doing. It is unlikely that first team manager Xavi, will call up the youngster to the senior side, but with giving Lamine Yamal his first team debut last season in LaLiga, you cannot rule out the possibility that it won’t happen for Noah Darvich if he impresses for the B team this season.
