Man Utd cruise to 3-0 win at Everton

Manchester United continued their recent good form with a 3-0 win against Everton at a hostile Goodison Park.

This was the home sides first game after receiving a 10-point deduction for breaching financial rules. Boos rang around the ground before kick-off with the majority of fans holding up “corrupt” signs.

To make matters worse for the home team, United took the lead after just 3 minutes. Diego Dalot’s cross for the visitors was sensationally converted by a Alejandro Garnacho overhead kick.

The Argentinians strike drew comparisons to Wayne Rooney’s overhead volley against Manchester City and silenced the Everton crowd.

It was Everton who dominated much of the first-half though. Dominic Calvert-Lewin went close with two headers and Abdoulaye Doucouré struck wide from 12 yards.

United were lucky to go in at half-time with the lead as it was the home side who were creating the majority of the chances.

The away side began the second-half stronger though. Bruno Fernandes played a ball into Anthony Martial who was fouled by Ashley Young. Martial was initially booked for diving, however, a penalty was given after a VAR review.

Manchester United’s usual penalty taker, Bruno Fernandes allowed struggling Marcus Rashford to take the spot kick. The England forward confidently converted high into the net to make it 2-0.

Everton continued to push but were unable to create any clear chances like they did in the first half.

The game was sealed for United with 15 minutes to go. A swift counter attack from the away side allowed Bruno Fernandes to play in Anthony Martial who calmly dinked the ball over Jordan Pickford for 3-0.

Everton hit the crossbar through Vitaliy Mykolenko late on but United were able to hold on for a third Premier League cleansheet in a row.
