Is The USWNT Still The Favourites To Win The Women’s World Cup?

USA have finished as runners-up in Group E, just two points below the Netherlands after their goalless draw against Portugal and the Netherlands’ 7-0 win knocking Vietnam out of their first World Cup.

The four-time World Cup winners started the tournament with a win, beating Vietnam 3-0, which was a positive start for the team.

However, the USA didn’t keep their winning streak up for long as a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands and the goalless group game against Portugal cost the USA their top spot in Group E.

Before the competition, the USA was announced as favourites to win the tournament.

However, due to the results of the games played today, England’s Lionesses are now currently favourites to win the tournament after their 6-1 win against China earlier today with odds at 7/2 to take home the cup. Both Spain and USA are seconded favourites to win the world cup with tied odds at 9/2.

USA’s next fixture will be held against the winner of Group G either Sweden, Italy, South Africa or Argentina and will kick off on Sunday 6th August at 10:00 AM BST AMMI park.
